Cinematheque of the French Embassy
The Cinematheque of the French Embassy in Brazil, located at the French Consulate in Rio de Janeiro, is dedicated to the non-commercial promotion of French and African films. It includes works from the La Cinémathèque Afrique, associated with the L’Institut Français and focused on preserving and promoting African cinematic heritage. With a collection of 4,000 films, 1,200 of which have active rights for non-commercial screenings in Brazil, the Cinematheque maintains an extensive network of partners across the country, including film clubs, public and private cultural institutions, and educational partners. Its goal is also to expand these partnerships to culturally underserved regions. The Cinematheque supports these partners through film loans, programming assistance, and event organization support.
