Magdalene Reddy
Director of the Durban FilmMart Institute, Magdalene Reddy is is also the director and owner of Creative WorkZone, an arts management and training company which since its inception in 2019 has been producing the European Film Festival in South Africa, providing festival management training to film festivals locally and internationally and project managing various arts projects. She worked at the University of KwaZulu’s School of Music and then the prolific Centre for Creative Arts, where she was part of the management team who produced four annual festivals – the Durban International Film Festival, Poetry Africa, Time of the Writer and Jomba Contemporary Dance Experience. She worked on two projects implemented by the Department of Arts and Culture in partnership with the Institute Francais and the British Council respectively; The SA-French Seasons and the SA-UK Seasons.
Durban FilmMart
Established in 2020, the Durban FilmMart Institute is a non-profit company that facilitates local and international trade and investment in African film content. Their mission is to provide appropriate and effective programmes and services in order to promote, support and facilitate investment in the African film industries, so that African professionals and products are competitive and celebrated globally. Now in its 15th edition, they are Africa’s premiere destination to find new talents, production and co-production ready projects coming from first time as well as established directors and writers. The events bring together a couple hundred industry professionals from various parts of the world looking for new projects and talents to onboard in their catalog.
